A 29-year-old man from Hammonds Plains is in custody after a series of events involving a motor vehicle crash and an attempted car theft. On December 28, around 1:15 p.m., RCMP officers from the Halifax Regional Detachment, with assistance from Halifax Regional Police, responded to a crash at Larry Uteck Blvd. and Hammonds Plains Rd.
The incident involved a black Mazda M3 and a white Infiniti Q50. After the crash, police say the driver of the Mazda exited his vehicle and attempted to steal a Ford Focus that had stopped nearby. The suspect then fled on foot toward a gas station. Responding officers initially had difficulty.
