A man is safely in the custody of Halifax RCMP following firearm reports in the Enfield area.
Shortly after 11 a.m., RCMP responded to reports of a man with a firearm in the 100 block of Oldham Road. At the time, police said there had been no reports of shots fired.
Police said the suspect was armed and dangerous and last seen on foot in the area.
“Stay inside and close and lock doors and windows,” the RCMP said in an emergency alert issued at 11:37 a.m.
Shortly before 2 p.m., RCMP lifted the alert.
Authorities are now asking for the public’s assistance in piecing together the incident.
RCMP describe the accused as 5’9″, 180 pounds, with long blonde hair and face/neck tattoos. Officers say his clothing changed throughout the incident; he may have been wearing a white t-shirt, grey hoodie and/or a bright orange shirt.
Anyone who may have see the accused in the Enfield and Elmsdale area between 9:30 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. is asked to contact local RCMP. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
