Nova Scotians who like travelling down south will have a new option later this year.

Barbados Marketing Tourism Inc. (BTMI) has announced a new non-stop route that will run between Halifax and Barbados starting December 17.

The flight will be operated by Air Canada and will operate weekly on Thursdays.

According to BTMI, the new service will operate on a 177-seat Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft.

Halifax Stanfield International Airport authority president and CEO Joyce Carter says Nova Scotia and Barbados share a long-standing connection, adding this non-stop service will help them strengthen their ties.

BTMI says the announcement is the result of more than 18 months of direct engagement in Halifax and Atlantic Canada, adding Canada continues to be one of Barbados’ key source markets, with steady growth in visitor arrivals and increasing demand across key regions.
