No injuries were reported after an early morning fire at a tent encampment on Barrington Street in Halifax.
Halifax Regional Fire and Rescue were called to the site under the North Street ramp to the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge just after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, after callers reported fire, smoke and explosions. HRFE say the noises were likely small propane tanks exploding.
Police closed the ramp leading to the bridge, and traffic was reduced to one lane in either direction on Barrington, while the one fire crew quickly extinguished the fire.
No cause of the blaze was given.
