Two people are facing charges after a police pursuit on Sunday night.

Halifax Regional Police says officers were responding to a single-vehicle crash around 11 p.m. on St. Margaret’s Bay Road. One of the officers approached a vehicle trying to pass by and saw open alcohol in the vehicle, police say.

“When ordered by the officer to exit the vehicle, the driver refused and fled the scene, striking the officer in the process,” reads a media release from HRP, adding the officer was not seriously injured.

According to officials, several units went after the vehicle and managed to stop the driver in the 3700 block of Ketch Harbour Road.

Police say the two women inside were arrested, and alcoholic beverages, drugs and money were seized from the vehicle.

Alexandra Purchase, 35, is facing a long list of charges, including impaired operation, possession for the purpose of trafficking and assault of a peace officer with a weapon.

A second woman, 43-year-old Kelley Pellerine, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and three counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

Both of the accused were expected to appear in court on Monday.
