Police charge man with second-degree murder

One man has been charged with second-degree murder following an investigation into the death of a Halifax man.

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Nov. 26, police responded to a report of a man injured in the 2400 block of Gottingen St. in Halifax.

The victim was transported to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The victim was identified as 59-year-old Troy Clayton.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner deemed the death a homicide.

As a result, Aaron James Johnson, 40, has now been charged with second-degree murder.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday, Dec. 1.

Police say they do not believe the incident was random. The investigation remains ongoing.
