The premier is in Boston on Wednesday for a meeting with the Governor of Massachusetts.

Tim Houston’s office says the premier will be discussing trade and energy opportunities with Gov. Maura Healey, alongside the Massachusetts secretary of energy.

Houston will also be attending Thursday’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Boston, which will see a white spruce from Lunenburg lit up on the Boston Common.

“For more than 50 years, Nova Scotians and Bostonians have come together for this special holiday tradition to acknowledge the support Boston provided to Nova Scotia after the Halifax Explosion,” said Premier Houston. “Nova Scotia’s annual gift to Boston is a reminder of the close ties that exist between our two regions. It is symbolic of the important trade relationship between us and a reminder of all we can achieve when we work together on our shared goals and interests.”

The tree lighting will happen Thursday evening.

This Saturday, December 6, will mark the 108th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion, which devastated the city in 1917.
