A woman will appear in court to face charges after a robbery at a Walmart in Dartmouth.

According to Halifax Regional Police, officers were called to the Walmart on Lamont Terrace on Sunday around 9:15 p.m. Police say staff reported a woman came into the store, took a suitcase and began filling it with products.

When confronted about the situation, police say she assaulted staff and then ran off.

No one was seriously hurt in the incident.

Police found the woman in the passenger seat of a nearby vehicle that was pulling out from behind a closed business soon after.

Officers pulled the vehicle over and arrested the suspect and found the stolen items.

They say she also had an outstanding arrest warrant for a previous incident that happened in Windsor.
