The provincial government says it is making new funding available to support regional emergency management organizations across Nova Scotia.
The funding comes in the form of grants, totalling around $1 million, according to government. That money will support organizations with communications infrastructure, staff and training, among other things.
“The Long Lake and Lake George wildfires this summer showed us how important it is to have a strong, co-ordinated emergency response,” said Kim Masland, Minister of Emergency Management. “We have such a resilient province, and we want to keep building off 2025’s successes and supporting REMOs as local leaders in emergency management.”
Government says the organizations receiving funding are in Colchester, Cumberland, Pictou, Digby, Lunenburg and Guysborough counties.
The province says organizations not listed can still apply for the funding.
